single page link within top scrol menu not working

All of the menu items are working except the blog link. upon looking at the source, the menu item is trying to call the right link and when I copy/paste it out of the source, the page (a placeholder)opens just fine. The issue is with the actual clicking of the link.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Right clicking and selecting open in new tab opens the correct page, just not a regular click.

I also have a second menu on the inside pages that will link back to the appropriate spots on the home page (theres only one item on it at the moment) but it is behaving the same way as the blog menu on the front page and not working unless you right click and open in a new tab.

Put " external" for menu item class in menu item settings (without quotes! - note first blank)
