Google font for top menu ruins backend menu

I changed the font used in the top menu to a Google font I'm using in the rest of the site.
Template Manager > Styles > hot_one_page Default > Options > Menu Styles > Main Menu > Font Settings > Font Family
I change (Times New Roman, serif) to ('Varela', sans-serif) and everything gets screwy.
I am using Isis backend template. Somehow changing to a google font broke the Sparky menus. Thoughts or a fix?

Use "Varela" instead of 'Varela'
