Single Page not working

I have just installed the one page template, and for some reason I cant get a single page to work. I must be missing something right in front of me...

I have a single article menu item linking to a single article, and when I click on that menu item it just goes to the top of the page. Do I have to create a new page type or something like that?

Best you install hot start to start from there , copy files form ..hot_start.zip to your web root and browse base link to start installation. Install sample data during installation.

I have all the sample data installed. I just cant get a new single page to open from the main menu.

To create a new single page away from the home page, what do I have to do in addition to creating a single article menu item and link it to a new article?

If you want page to be opened in separate page set menu item class suffix to " external"
