Hamburger Menu behavior

Hello,

I am using the Startup template on this site:
www.diocesi.parma.it/parrocchie/sorbolo/

When the Top Menu becomes hamburger-style (on small screens), I would like to be able to expand each submenu when clicking on it, and collapse it back by clicking on it again. On the demo site this last feature is working, while on my site the submenus cannot be collapsed back with second click on them.
How can I restore the original behavior?

Best regards,
Francesca

Hello,

You are using the Separator menu type for the parent menu items (Chi Siamo, etc...). Please try changing it with blind links. You can change the Separator menu type with the External Link menu type and use # for the link (# is the blind link).

Dear Milos,

thank you very much: I implemented your solution and the behavior is now correct.

I have another problem, tough, that is also present in the demo site. There is a narrow range of screen sizes (resolutions), very close to the threshold for the transition to hamburger menu, where the top menu is still "classic" but does not work properly: in particular the submenus do not expand with mouse hover, but only on click, but they cannot be collapsed anymore, so if you expand another submenu it will overlay to the previous. You can see this behavior in the demo site (Startup). If you simulate that from a web browser, by reducing the size of the window as to be very close to the max width for having the transition to hamburger, to see the bad behavior that I am talking about you to have to reload the page.

Have you any idea how to correct this?

Regards,
Francesca

Hello,

If you are testing the responsive menu behavior by resizing the browser window, you should refresh the browser after each resize. After doing this, the menu will work as it should.

Hello again,
thanks for your reply.
Actually the menu works correctly for ALMOST every size, but when the size is just a bit above the threshold for the transition to hamburger, then the menu (still classic) does not work properly anymore (even after refresh, most of all after refresh): I tested this on 4 different browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Edge, Opera), both on Windows and Linux OS. You should be able to see this for the demo Startup site.
Since the sizes that I am talking about are very close to those of tablets screens, this problem can be very annoying.
I hope I made the problem clearer and that you can propose a solution.
Best regards,
Francesca

Hello,

Sorry, but I couldn't reproduce the issue on my computer. Can you test with this link demo.hotjoomlatemplates.com/startup/ and let me know at which screen width (in pixels) the problem occurs?

Regards,
Milos
