Search icon functionality

Hi,

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I realise you might be on leave (in Australia we have long holidays at this time) but thought I'd send this just in case you are around. When I click on the search icon in the demo - either the one in top1 or the one in bottom5 - I see a popup search window. However when I click on either of these search icons in my template setup nothing happens.

How might I get this search icon to produce the search popup window on my website?

Your last row in Layout (in template options) must be "searchrow" with module position "search" inside. In module manager, there must be published and properly configured Search module in "search" position.

If you deleted these, try reinstalling template (HotStart) on a temporary location and copy settings from there.

Thank you!

I have checked the Layout setup and can see that the last row is indeed "searchrow" with module position "search". I checked the modules in module manager and found the positions to be those shown in the "module positions" page of the demo, ie. top1 for the Top Contact / Search Icon module and bottom5 for the Bottom Contact / Search Icon module. I changed both module positions to search and the modules now don't display.

Are you able to shed some more light on this little mystery? Let me know if you'd like login details.

You did not do what I said. You should not change module positions of these modules. Please revert all changes you made.

1. You should make sure there is "searchrow" available in layout.
2. You should make sure there is Search module (mod_search) in position "search" and create one if it's not there.

I misunderstood, but now I have been able to apply your suggestion (had to create a new search module) and it works beautifully.
