yes the joomla updater was broken in Hot Start. Had to do a manual!

I installed hot start, but the joomla aspect of update. The function didn't work, so had to update manually

I did a fresh install of Design 2.5 no update from 1.5, and the 2.5 joomla wouldn't update in administraor The link you sent to 1.5. 2.5 is not relevant at this point and is broken too

The link is not broken (click on it, don't copy/paste it). Also it's related for Joomla 2.5, not Joomla 1.5 (which doesn't have auto-update feature at all).
