INSTALL DEMO SITE LOCALLY

How do i install full hotstart demo site locally. I'm running LAMPP & Joomla on Linux Mint for testing before uploading my website. Would really appreciate some help.

Just follow instructions... Instead of uploading files by FTP, copy them to your local httpdocs folder (or whatever its name was).

i get this message when i try to install sample data Error

Please let me know what version your are trying to install? For Joomla 1.5 or for Joomla 1.6. I will investigate the problem then.

I'm trying to install joomla 1.6. I also got the same error when attempting to install on godaddy servers. I'm sorry to mention this here but I emailed you guys two days ago. I'm not sure if you got the message but let me know if what I requested is feasible. Grateful.
