I'm using Hotjoomla Sportal template with version 1.7 and I would like to upgrade the existing website to version 2.5 or 3.1. I have already downloaded both versions (2.5 and 3.1). But I was wondering if there is a procedure for doing this upgrade(s)?
Please help!
Cheers,
Bouky

You will also need to download latest template versions from our site and to overwrite template files you did not change.
Also not that you will probably have few problems during all this, but with a help of goggling you should be able to overcome them.
MAKE BACKUP!!!

via normal Joomla update (admin portal via extension and update) is not possible, because I don't get the new updates. it is telling me "no updates available"! I did refresh cashe serveral times, but didn't help.

When you have a J1.7 site and have upgraded it to 1.7.5 you go on Install manager, and click the button Find updates.
It will list Joomla 2.5.3 (current pr today).
Select it, and click upgrade.
it wil upgrade, and you will often recive an database error message, click on database and fix it.
After the upgrade, I have seen in several sites, THIS works well.
The only thing that I miss in upgraded sites like this, is the current Joomla version stamp in the footer. If Somebody have a solution to insert the version stamp again please advice. Its very nice to have to keep record on it.
Also maybe before that you need to go to Extension manager, "Database tab" to check if it gives you option for database fix.
