Hello - - I am having this same problem but I do not understand what your solution was?

(re: I did a Renew config by file and this solved the problem, now I got the products showing, i just need to reconfigure my shop.)

Can you explain to a novice how to do this?

What is problem exactly?

I was referring to the second problem that jdg87 wrote about above (post #15059.)

I set up new product categories and added 2 products to my Necklaces category following the examples from the demo data. On the front end, when I click on Store, I see the main page showing all of the categories, but when I click on Necklaces, I get a blank page instead of the category page and I can't get to the 2 product pages I added. When I click on any of the furniture categories, I can see the category page and product pages.

I can't figure out what I've done wrong and I've spent days trying.
Not sure what other info you need from me in order to help...
