C'est la vie!
Unless... if you were prepared to change your 'hosts' file to point at the test server we could perhaps do it that way?
If you are I will send you the hosts line entre and a userid & password via moderator.

So you have site on public shared IP (shared with multiple sites) with site name binding, but still not have domain name registered? If you have total control over server why you don't just add new port binding to that site it is like 100 time easier for you to do that than to me to change file protected by system and antivirus.

We are moving host and upgrading the website. The domain is registered by my client and is publically accessible at
www.cancercampaigninsuffolk.co.uk
The new site on the new host is being created in this manner so that when we cease our contract with our current host all we need do is change the A records to point at the new host with it's nice shniny new website.
I do not have full control over the new host server and cannot add port bindings as you suggest.
It was just a thought, I can understand why you would not want to do it.
I must say though, I am impressed with the amount of time you are dedicating to supporting a free template - it has been much appreciated. I will have to find a template suitable to my client which works on Joomla! 2.5
Thanks again.
