Yes, when you update module, you must save at least once. Sorry if I forgot to mention that.
But, in case you are installing the latest version of the module, it will show nothing until you add some slide images, text, etc. and (of course) save your settings at least once. This is logical, doesn't need to be documented. After installation, all slide slots are empty until you enter content.
