Other than that can I say that the "environment" image comes on at the beginning and then the new pictures toggle; I had previously deleted the environment pictures, which would explain the blank screen previously.

Once it toggles the "environment" image does not come back.

Does this assist?

i gave link. i've also noticed that there is no menu option with android. i get a black square symbol at the top right but no functions?

For initial image in layout.css:

.fullwidth {
background: url(../images/custom/town_summer.jpg) no-repeat bottom;
background-size: cover;
}

change image to your first image (that will be shown initialy)

Also it takes time to load image so to overcome that

place this two divs just above </body> in index.php of template:
