Hi all,

i have followed the procedure and installed the beatifull Hot Furniture Store template, to our existing website. My problem is, that i dont know 2 things (at least for now! :-) )

A. how can we install the first page? We have installed the virtuemart template (and we are working on it) but the first / home page like it is in your demo, its not there!. Can you provide some info how to install it?

B. Is there something else after A., that we must do in order to have the same effects in our first page like it is on your demo? I am talking specifically about the very nice "engraved style" letters, and generally all the visual effects that the first page has in your demo.

Best if you go with hot_start (joomla + template + VM + VM template + demo data) , then just change existing data.

Ivan thank you fot your answer. If i do what you said, that means that we will have to reload each of our 500 products and load every module we are currently using (acymailing, etc) and all data related to it and every article and every setting (shipping rates, shipping carriers, etc), one by one. Is this what you mean or can we do all of the above with an easy way? Because if we have to actually "rebuild" all of the above this is huuuge work. Is this what you mean or is there a way to transfer all the things i mentioned easily?

There's no way to install HotStart and keep old site's data. Please read this: www.hotjoomlatemplates.com/blog/joomla-i...-on-existing-website

You can install HotStart on testing domain and then copy many of it's settings to your old site (where you should install template using regular installation method). This is huge work as well. It's up to you to decide what's easier.

Milos hi,

i have read the article you sent me, as you had guided me there before, for another reason. This article provides basic guidelines in order to "fix" some things. Module positions for example, but this is not my problem. We can fix this. But in regard to the article saying "this case, we recommend you to make a mirror of your Joomla site on your local computer and work locally.... and a copy of your website downloaded and installed locally. Then you can switch template, make all necessary edits and workout everything else locally....", this is what we chose. But this article doesn't mention the fact that choosing this way, the first page will not be used, or it requires a huuuge amount of work in order to install just the first page. And the worse is that there i couldn't find a guide - walkthrough on what changes required to "reconstruct" this first page. So how can we do it?

So to cut short, we are presented with two options here.

1) Install hotstart and actually rebuild ALL OUR WEBSITE from scratch, which is something almost impossible, (reinstalling all modules, vmcoupons, acymailing, shippings expenses, invoice modules, and all related data to them)

2) Install the template on our "local website with data in it" but in this case we will not be able to use the first page and the beautifull drop down menus that you have created, the main reason that we bought this beautifull template!

With all the respect, i think that both of the two options are not what a user expects when he buys a template. I mean, there should be at least a clear guide how to install the "First page" and all other settings on an existing website. I dont mean the module positions, because its site has different positions and modules, but a guide how to install the first page, what are the settings of the fonts and how to create the drop down menus should all be in a detailed guide, in my humble opinion.

1. Can you provide us a detailed guide how to install the first page and all beatifull fonts settings and drop down menus?
2. If we create a website directory "make a copy of your website in a subdirectory of your hosting space " what is the cost for your support to install this template for us and after you finish then we will rearrange modules, etc?

Milos hi,

untill you answer me in my previous post, I tried to install hotstart locally. I get the following error on the step that i am trying to connect to the database for the firt time (during joomla installation). You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'TYPE=MyISAM CHARACTER SET `utf8`' at line 29 SQL=CREATE TABLE `wa89g_banner` ( `bid` int(11) NOT NULL auto_increment, `cid` int(11) NOT NULL default '0', `type` varchar(30) NOT NULL default 'banner', `name` varchar(255) NOT NULL default '', `alias` varchar(255) NOT NULL default '', `imptotal` int(11) NOT NULL default '0', `impmade` int(11) NOT NULL default '0', `clicks` int(11) NOT NULL default '0', `imageurl` varchar(100) NOT NULL default '', `clickurl` varchar(200) NOT NULL default '', `date` datetime default NULL, `showBanner` tinyint(1) NOT NULL default '0', `checked_out` tinyint(1) NOT NULL default '0', `checked_out_time` datetime NOT NULL default '0000-00-00 00:00:00', `editor` varchar(50) default NULL, `custombannercode` text, `catid` INTEGER UNSIGNED NOT NULL DEFAULT 0, `description` TEXT NOT NULL DEFAULT '', `sticky` TINYINT(1) UNSIGNED NOT NULL DEFAULT 0, `ordering` INTEGER NOT NULL DEFAULT 0, `publish_up` datetime NOT NULL default '0000-00-00 00:00:00', `publish_down` datetime NOT NULL default '0000-00-00 00:00:00', `tags` TEXT NOT NULL DEFAULT '', `params` TEXT NOT NULL DEFAULT '', PRIMARY KEY (`bid`), KEY `viewbanner` (`showBanner`), INDEX `idx_banner_catid`(`catid`) ) TYPE=MyISAM CHARACTER SET `utf8`

step: http://localhost/hotfurniture/installation/index.php

Every other joomla goes through the step of database connection, and finishes the installation succesfully. What is wrong?
