Well ordering by date must work, you can alter dates when you enter article editing.

So are you saying it is not possible to order by the ending date of each article in the parameters of an article?

I am not looking for a parameter that allows me to order my articles by title. I need a way of order each article to be in the order of when that article expires with the newest date of expiration to be first and the oldest date of expiration to be last. It like a running calendar of events with newest event first and oldest event last.

I know you can order them by date in the title of the article and then set the parameters to (Title - alphabetically) but I will have multiple people putting in these articles and in order for me to keep doing it this way I am going to have to expect everyone who puts in an article to make sure they title it correctly.

Your suggest to change my dates in the title to yy-mm-dd does work for the work around but with 10 + people putting in these articles it's going to be a mess doing it that way and expecting everyone to type the date in correctly in the title.

I read this topic from the start, but I could not understand why you should put dates in the article names? When you do this:

Menu
Top Menu
Home Page
Parameters (Advanced)
Category Order - No, Order by Primary Order Only
Primary Order - Title (alphabetical)

...the articles on the home page must be sorted from the newest to the oldest.

I need my articles to sort by date. It is like a running calendar. So if there is an event today it must be the first article and if it is an event 4mo down the road it must be the last article.

When you sort (like you suggest) by Newest First (actually called "Most Recent") the articles sort by the date the article was made and not by the date of the "End Date" of the article.

All my articles are set up to start publishing right away and then I set the end date to be the date after the event (articles ends).

I just went and set the articles like you suggested above and they sorted by the date the article was made (newest first) and not by the actual date of the event.

Ah I see now... Unfortunately, this is not possible with Joomla, actually, you can assign a future dates to the articles, but in this case, these articles would not be published until that date.

So, the only solution is to put date before the article name like this 2011-12-20. And of course, to train your 10+ authors to do the same. :(
