Why don't you try to install it on localhost or someware else, if all is ok then we can be sure problem is with server configuration.

I have tried to install using xampp as my server.I still get the same results.Using the Hotstart installation I can't get past the "creating tables part". That is after you have selected to install sample data with hotstart.

Yes I have installed clean copy of joomla 3.2 and its working fine
check the url hotel.mmu.ac.ke . It is joomla in its original form.I haven't added anything.
