Are you started to panic? You're thinking: "They took my money for nothing!" No. We didn't! Although there are many places on the Internet where you can give "money for nothing", we are not such kind of guys. Let's start panicking, and let's better analyze the situation.
So, you tried to install template you bought from us, and got this error:
Are you started to panic? You're thinking: "They took my money for nothing!" No. We didn't! Although there are many places on the Internet where you can give "money for nothing", we are not such kind of guys. Let's start panicking, and let's better analyze the situation.
I believe I know what you did
Ordered template from our site
Then,
downloaded a file named as "hot_templatename_unzip_first.zip".
Then,
logged in your existing Joomla backend.
Finally gone to Extensions > Install/Uninstall and uploaded the file.
What you should do
I must say for myself that I also don't read manuals often. In your situation, you hadn't even read the archive file name. It says, "Unzip me first". So, let's unzip it before doing anything else.
If you have Windows XP or any later version (Vista, 7), you can unzip "hot_templatename_unzip_first.zip" archive in My Computer (just double click it). Also, if you have MacOSX, you can unzip any ZIP archive in Finder. If you from any reason need additional software to unzip archives, we recommend free 7ZIP, but any other will most likely work as well.
Once you unpacked the archive, you will see its contents. It depends of template, but most likely it will be:
- hot_templatename_documentation.pdf - Documentation, read it please, it will save both your and our time.
- hot_templatename_hotstart.zip - This is file you should use to copy our demo data on your server. Please proceed by reading HotStart installation method.
- hot_templatename_source.zip - Inside this archive there are Photoshop source files and fonts.
- hot_templatename.zip - This is the file you should install through your existing Joomla, but it won't copy demo data. Please read Joomla template installation.
- mod_modulename.zip - Modules used in template. You will need these files to install modules if you don't use HotStart installation.
If you thought you could copy all demo data you saw on our demo server to your existing Joomla installation with 2-3 clicks, you was wrong (unfortunately). To copy demo data, you must use HotStart method, and it will install new Joomla for you. If you must keep your old Joomla (in example, you have content in it), please read how to Change Joomla Template on Existing Website.
This tutorial is for templates only. If you bought extension (modules or plugin), you can install it in your Joomla without unpacking.
