Hi Ivan,

I have had a bit of a challenge recently. I have a site on a host that had a very old version of PHP and Joomla 2.5.25. I decided to update it on a new host.

i have used akeeba backup to copy the site and database, then moved it to the new host which uses the latest version php. I have managed to get 2.5.25 joomla installed on the new host and used akeebas kickstart to merge the old site into the new site... so far so good..my next stage was upgrading 2.5.25 to 3.x!

obviously the ONE PAGE template i was using was the old 2.5 version, and once i upgraded that 2.5.25 joomla to the latest 3.x using SP Transfer (which worked pretty well i might add).. i needed to upgrade the template. so i got the ONE PAGE template for joomla 3 and installed it, then i went to the backend to compare the old sites template to the new one, and the template editor features have all changed?! i can no longer look at the user friendly formatting on the joomla 2.5 version of the template and compare it to the Joomla 3.x version? i have spent a few hours tying to compare the old site to the new but to no avail... im not too php savvy and having to edit directly in the template files is rather a daunting prospect. is there a ONE PAGE for joomla 3 that gives me back the user friendly editor that i need?

Thanks

Eno

a little update to my initial question.. i have managed to muddle my way through changing the template to roughly what i need.. but there are still a few things i cannot seem to figure out.

1. the 'One Page' text logo on the top of the site i cant seem to change? - can you tell me where i change it please on the joomla 3.x template?

2. the width of the site.. if i change the dimensions to 960px which is what the old site was then the template does not go responsive, if i leave it at 100% it stays responsive, but looks rubbish on desktop version - if i reduce it to 75% then it looks rubbish on phones! ( where do i change the width to set 960px allowing for the responsive design to still work?

3. on the old site there are 3 module positions Top1, Top2, Top3, which sit above the topmenu - i suspect this is what is pushing my menu below the logo position on the old site, i cant seem to find these module positions on the joomla 3 version? how do i get them on there please?

finally, on the old site there is a black banner running across where the menu is, i cant seem to find how to add it on the joomla 3.x template.

for your info, you can access the old 2.5.25 site here: 35daydetox.com
and the new joomla 3.x version of the site on this staging server here : uminx.com/35DayDetox/Joomla3x/

Once i can get the Joomla 3.x site looking like the 2.5 version i will be moving the site to another host on the clients server.

I appreciate your time and effort :)

Thanks Eno

Hello Eno,

well 3.x template manager is powered by Sparky. Sparky is designed to easy maintenance and manage user position, layouts and entire styling of template. Once you get familiar with it, you will see it's advantages and usability.
Let's go on questions now :)

1. You can change your logo in Sparky under Features tab, you have logo image settings. Enable logo and select image from drop down. Make sure that you upload image to images folder of your template.

2. You should manage template width in layout builder.

3. Also can manage position easily trought sparky layout builder, add new row, put it on top and add positions top1,2,3 to it.

4. On bottom of template_css.css which is located under your template_folder\css put this on bottom for black stripe background:

.hot_one_page_full.topmenurow{
background: #000!important;
}

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Best regards,
Ivan

Hi Ivan,

thanks for the follow up, I kind of understand the sparky backend and this is why i got lost.. because the backend of the Joomla 3.x does not have the features tab.. or any other tab for that matter..which is completly different to the Joomla 2.5 template i used.

I have attached a screenshot of the backend template editor i have with the One Page template.

I will try the last thing you suggested for the black background :)

Thanks Ivan
