I'm sorry - I'm not sure what that means. Can you please elaborate? I think what you're saying is that you have to have users login (and register) before these features will work properly - is that it?

That is expected to be fixed(or better say made by vm team in some next update) , for now if you look at code you see that it's dependent on user object so it will fail unless there is authenticated vm user.

So you're saying that this will not work unless we implement the registered (authenticated) user feature of the template, correct?

How will I be notified of the next release of this template, and can you confirm that this is definitely on the list of items to be fixed with the next release?

There are no release notes for virtuemart updates published, that i know of. But how it looks it will not be soon. Some people even payed for custom job to enable that. That is done by auto authenticating some auxiliary user account.
